Breezeblock Park

Performed on September 16th & 17th 2016
Breezeblock Park, by Willy Russell, the author of Educating Rita and Stags & Hens, is a comedy-drama about the sadness and madness of family life for 3 middle aged couples and their children on a Liverpool council estate in the 1970's. First produced in 1975, it was a sell-out success staring Julie Walters and Pete Postlethwaite.

Superior council house dwellers Betty, Reeny, Vera and their men regard themselves as a close knit family team despite their concealed jealousies and occasional recriminations. When Betty's daughter Sandra announces she is pregnant and intends to live unmarried with her student lover, the news explodes like an atom bomb.
